Nearly $5 million dollars in federal grants has been awarded to the Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport to use towards a major construction project.
Most of the money – $4.1 million – is earmarked for the construction of buildings to house aircraft rescue and firefighting equipment, and tools for snow removal. Another $750,000 will go toward the acquisition of a rescue vehicle.
The funding is part of some $37 million awarded to Idaho airports through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program.
In all, 24 recipients received 33 grants to maintain and improve the Gem State’s airport facilities. (ITD)
